Loreal Colour Riche (Made for Me Naturals) in Taffeta

I am a lipstick girl. If you had a look through my makeup collection, you would notice that I have an overabundance of lipsticks, and more lipsticks than I do any other lip product. What is possibly more troubling is that probably fifty percent of these lipsticks are of the my-lips-but-better sort. Why, you ask? I don't know. It's an uncontrollable obsession.........kind of like the one I had with mint nail polishes. I'd imagine there will come a time when I will finally say, "All right Jem, I think that's quite enough," but at this point those senses haven't kicked in so until that does happen, (apologies, but) you will likely see many of these lipsticks on this blog.

Enter Loreal Taffeta, one of the recent additions to this lipstick category. I like to justify this purchase with the fact that upon closer inspection, it's actually not completely neutral. Taffeta is a pinky nude that leans ever so slightly plum, and as you can tell from the swatch below it is loaded with fine golden shimmer that appears more like a subtle metallic sheen when applied. I don't usually go for metallic lipsticks as I prefer nice cream shades, but this one is quite subdued compared to most making it more natural and wearable. This lipstick applies like a dream and the lasting power is excellent. I mean, it won't stand through a meal or anything but besides that I think it stays on really well.

I wouldn't label this one of my all-time favourites or a holy grail product, but not because it comes up short quality-wise. I think this particular shade was meant to suit blondes best, and I can definitely tell that it doesn't fit perfectly with my skin tone and hair colour, but sometimes that's the kind of look you're going for. I can appreciate a lipstick that stands out. Loreal's Taffeta is a really nice lipstick and I'm happy to have it in my collection.

I apologize for the last photo - no amount of temperature modification and/or tinting would pull the excess yellowness off of it. If anyone has any tips on how to do that, please let me know! My bathroom is the only room in my house with decent enough lighting to take photos, and when the white lights blew out my parents replaced them with yellow ones hence yellow-tinted photos.

I should have blog posts rolling out for the rest of the week - cross your fingers! Thank you for being patient with me and keeping posted. Love you all. xxx
